Warehouse Manager

The Warehouse Manager leads, manages, and supervises all warehouse activities at its Fullerton facilities. This includes shippers, receivers, material handlers, administrative personnel, and the associated leads and supervisor working at the primary production facility and other local facilities that have inventory activity.  It also includes responsibility for control of material held at third-party facilities and the transfer of such material to and from McKenna Labs facilities.  The Warehouse Manager ensures the smooth operation of the facilities over all shifts and hours.  In addition to internally focused activities, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing the administration and compliance of carriers to the dock schedule, coordinating with customer carriers and distribution personnel, managing McKenna-contracted carrier, and managing licensing and regulatory issues relating to the company trucks.  The Warehouse Manager ensures the security of inventory through processes and physical security measures.

  • Plan, direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the warehouse department and provide direction to staff for optimum performance.
  • Provide technical and organization leadership as it relates to typical warehouse functions including pulling orders, loading/unloading, packaging, shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
  • Provide business process expertise in all areas of warehousing and inventory control. Be the thought leader for best practices in these functional areas.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and improve inventory processes in order to support the flow of business while maximizing control.
  • Write, review, train on, and enforce company SOP’s. Build a work environment in which employees are evaluated on and rewarded for consistently following standard procedures.
  • Lead and document the results of root cause analysis for process failures in all areas of warehousing, shipping, receiving, and freight management.
  • Perform daily inventory counts and reconcile counts to perpetual levels in order to accurately reflect inventory levels. Ensure that all bins are counted at least quarterly.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to research customer claimed discrepancies through cycle count verification and audit of all inventory transactions.
  • Design and use reports that show departmental performance as it relates to inventory control, customer shipments, vendor receipts, and internal processing times for processing of standard work.
  • Work directly with internal and external technical resources to resolve systems issues and improve functionality for warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Work closely with internal customers on resolving inventory variance issues by reconciling all inventory transactions to current cycle counts and report results by way of established spreadsheets and systems.
  • Responsible for department staffing matters including hires, performance management, training, timekeeping, corrective action, and adherence to company policies.
  • Ensure safe working environment and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform duties in compliance with company policies, safety rules, SOP’s, and GMP’s.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of warehouse management and inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer skills required, particularly with Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, and inventory control systems.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and possess good follow-through and follow-up skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others in a positive and effective manner.
  • Experience with LTL/FTL and international carrier selection, document requirements, customs requirements, and service delivery audit.
  • DOT/BIT compliance experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a strong eye for detail.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance through personal example by adopting a customer-based philosophy in the level of service provided.
  • Ability to communicate professionally via written and verbal with internal and external customer to understand needs and concerns.
  • High level of motivation and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with multiple departments and represent different points of view without long-term negative consequences.

  • Advanced degree in a related course of study
  • Certifications related to transportation and/or warehousing
  • Experience implementing warehousing automation, warehouse management systems, Transportation Management Systems, and/or ERP systems.
