Staff Accountant

The Staff Account performs a wide variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions.  This position is also responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager in conducting key activities such as month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, fixed assets, financial analysis, account reconciliations and audits.

Responsibilities

Code AP invoices and process in the system.

Respond to inquiries from service vendors.

Maintain vendor records.

Issue AR invoices and maintain customer records.

Generate weekly aging statements and performing weekly collection efforts.

Assist the Accounting Manager in month end close, including but not limited to expense accrual, depreciation, and prepaid expense.

In charge of selected account reconciliations.

Maintain the general ledger and its subsidiary ledgers accurately.

Prepare quarterly sales tax filing.

Assist with annual audit.

Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Assist with general filings and recordkeeping.

Collaborate with other teams across McKenna Labs to ensure timely, efficient, and effective information sharing and workflows.

Perform duties in compliance with company safety rules, SOP’s, and GMP’s.

Perform any other additional assignments as directed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in an accounting role.

Knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of accounting; accrual accounting, and revenue recognition.

Knowledge to analyze, balance and/or reconcile financial data.

Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel with vlookup and pivot tables.

Familiarity with ERP systems such as GP and Netsuite.

Experience with financial reporting requirements.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with others in a positive and effective manner.

Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a strong eye for detail.

Ability to perform repetitive work requiring concentration on details and the ability to follow established procedures and methods.

Ability to communicate professionally via written and verbal with internal and external customers to understand needs and concerns.

Ability to coordinate and collaborate with multiple departments and represent different points of view without long-term negative consequences.
